Limits for OU’s Campus Parking Spaces

Updated with current information for 2022

To be eligible for an OU on-campus parking permit, you must reside in a residence hall. According to OU’s web page, this “does not include fraternity/sorority houses, Riverpark Towers, Mill Street Apartments, or apartments that are on or near the University.”

Spaces will cost $350 for the school year and may not be available for special events. During certain special events, it is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the closures and any cars remaining in the lot will be ticketed or towed at the student’s expense.

But no worries! You have other options. Krause offers off campus parking rentals starting at $300 for 12 months. The space will be guaranteed available anytime you need it, including during special events such as graduation, Homecoming or Halloween.

The Importance of Having Rental Parking

Even if you’re able to secure a campus parking spot, it may be useless if you have a parking spot at your rental.

Having a parking space where you live is important because it makes your car much more accessible to you. I.e., you’re a lot less likely to use your car if its parked on South Green but you live on Court Street.

The ideal medium is to find a space close to Uptown that comes with a parking space. That way, you’re close enough to campus that you can walk to class, while still having a car to travel – be it a weekday break at Strouds or heading back home to the family for the weekend.
