LGBT Students Gather for Athens Pride Fest, Parade

May 31, 2019

The Athens Pride Fest 2019 is ongoing this week. Co-sponsored by the LGBT Center and OhioHealth!, the festival finishes up this Saturday, June 8, with a parade at 11 am, starting at the Baker University Center. Marchers should line up at 10 a.m. The parade route will follow Court Street, with a rally afterward at Howard Hall Park. Then at 7 p.m. that evening there will be a LGBTQ Community Dinner at Lulu’s El Camino Mexican Restaurant, followed on Sunday with a Rainbow Alliance Swim and Picnic at Athens Pool.

If you’re new to OU and Athens, getting involved in local activities can be a great way to enrich your college experience by meeting local people and supporting community initiatives. You’ll also learn more about what Athens has to offer. For instance, following the parade route as it loops around Court Street will give you a chance to see Uptown Athens at its best. This is where students mix and mingle, shop and socialize.

Could be you’ll also decide you’d like to be close to the heartbeat of Uptown by checking out Court Street apartments in Athens Ohio, and other nearby student rentals.
