Grab your friends, a weekend’s worth of clothes and supplies, and head out to Legend Valley where Lost Lands takes place. Lost Lands is, at its heart, an electronic dance music festival. It’s one of the lesser known music festivals in Ohio that manages to draw a huge crowd every year. The best part? It’s only about an hour drive from your Ohio University apartment.
What’s the Scene at Lost Lands Like?
Electronic music festivals are known for their uplifting, positive environments. People go for good times, positivity, self-expression, and—of course—dancing. The pulsating thud of electronic dance music is downright infectious. With impressive past lineups full of electronic artists and sets playing all day long, there’s almost no end to the fun, easygoing atmosphere that Lost Lands delivers.
The festival takes place over a three-day period. Attendees are invited to either camp out for the weekend on the Legend Valley property or find a hotel in the area to call home base for the weekend. Camping is broken up into different sections. You can glamp, you can pitch a tent in the forest, and you can even camp in the quiet area to give your ears a break at nighttime. It’s an expansive venue with plenty of space for folks to wander and hang out with friends when they’re not banging their heads to music.
Speaking of headbanging, the festival grounds are the place to be to listen and dance to the over 200 artists who are set to perform over the weekend. Enter the festival grounds with a group of friends, and get ready to feel the bass wash over you. The 2025 lineup has yet to be released at the time of writing, but the list of lineups from past festivals easily shows that there’s a ton to be excited about.
What’s Up with the Dinosaurs?
If you’ve heard about Lost Lands, chances are high that you know it’s synonymous with giant, life-sized dinosaurs. Over 100 of them, to be exact. Why? It’s hard to say, but one thing’s for certain: people love a theme. Besides our extinct friends, festival goers can hang at the asteroid bar, get lost in the prehistoric décor surrounding the venue. Whoever said dinosaurs and EDM don’t mix has clearly never been to Lost Lands.
